Book Review : Chords of Life by Angad Singh Saluja

I was never fond of Poems until our English Teacher taught us ‘Fire and Ice’ by Robert Frost, and then the journey of poems never ended. There is something fascinating about poems. Each poem unfolds a different mystery. I have read several books on Poetry and one of them is ‘Chord of Life’ by Angad Singh Saluja.
Angad Singh Saluja is a MBA by degrees and a Poet by heart. His poems have been published in several Journals, including Cyberwit’s International Journal. His poem is also getting published in an anthology ‘The Poetic Bliss’ by CLRI.
The book ‘Chord of Life’ contains 51 poems categorized under 3 categories i.e. Life and Me, Life and Relations and Life and Survival. Poet Angad Singh Saluja has smartly shown the different Chords of Life. Kudos for this thought. I have also categorized this review in three parts.

Life and Me:Life and Me talks about the different encounters of Poet with his life. Few poems are awesome, few made me feel nostalgic, and few are bitter truth of life. This category covers almost all the aspects of life. I really loved the first category. My Favorite poem from this category was ‘Clueless’
I would like to share an abstract out of it.

Kid, I was
Parents decided and guided
Clueless I stood.

Love, I did
She decided and Left
Clueless I stood.

Journey, I started
Life decided and dictated
Clueless I stood.

Life and Relations: As the name suggests this category talks about relations of Love, Friendship, past relations, memories, possession and obsession. Each poem is unique and plays a different string of Relationships. Poems were good still I wanted more, or we can say my expectations rose after the first category. All and all a great job, Poet observed   different shades of Relationships and then weaved them in poems beautifully.

Life and Survival: After first two categories, I wanted to complete the book as soon as possible. Last category was ‘Life and Survival’ but it was a huge disappointment. I didn’t like this category very much. There were hardly few poems which could justify the title ‘Life and Survival’. I liked Hold on and Misery and Beauty.

Critic Reviews: Poet used too simple English. Normal readers would enjoy reading the book but Poetry lovers may not find this book much interesting.
There was no consistency in the Book. Few poems were marvelous and few poems weren’t even justifying the word ‘Poetry’.
Then, come the Pricing of book. This book is stamped with price of 200 bucks and it’s too high, indeed. The costing of Book isn’t much still they set high prices, which will make it a tough decision for the readers to pick this book.I would have bought it if it was priced less….  :-)
I would like to give it 3.25 out of 5. Happy Reading…!!!
